The New York Times recently reported that putting pen to paper stimulates the brain like nothing else and leads to increased student comprehension and participation in their classes. Learning to write in cursive is more than just learning a dying art. Instead, writing in cursive is shown to improve brain development in the areas of thinking, language and working memory.

Like cursive writing, learning to “doodle with purpose” can help students in many ways.  Scientists point to seven benefits of learning to doodle with a purpose.

  • Strengthens concentration skills
  • Spurs creativity
  • Helps process emotions
  • Alleviates stress
  • Serves as a creative outlet
  • Helps students learn better
  • Develops big picture thinking skills

So give this class a try, learn new skills and help develop your thinking abilities while you have fun along the way. You won’t be sorry.
